Vice President for Enrollment Management

Buena Vista University, located in Storm Lake, Iowa, seeks a creative, data-driven enrollment professional to fill an immediate opening as Vice President for Enrollment Management. The Vice President reports directly to the President and is a key member of the President’s Council. Responsible for enrollment of traditional undergraduate students on the residential Storm Lake campus, online students, and professional students taking classes in 15 locations throughout the state of Iowa, this individual is responsible for providing direction and leadership to a 25-person staff.
Preferred candidates should demonstrate a track record of success formulating student recruitment and admissions strategies that impact growth and shaping of traditional undergraduate, adult undergraduate and graduate populations on main and branch campuses and online. The ideal candidate will have seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in a successful enrollment management program, with expertise in traditional and adult student enrollments.
An appreciation for a small town and small private college environment is necessary. Familiarity with the demographics, culture, and school systems in the Midwest will be helpful. The Vice President will also play an important role in advancing retention and graduation initiatives; familiarity with retention best practices is therefore required.

Total enrollment is approximately 2,645 students, with 960 undergraduate students attending the Storm Lake campus and 1,685 students enrolled in BVU’s Professional & Online Division and Graduate Programs.
The Vice President will be a strong mentor and leader for the enrollment staff and will bring vision and planning skills to the university. She/he will be able to unify multiple constituencies across campus towards a common set of institutional enrollment priorities. Faculty collaboration on the development of fiscally viable new programs is an important part of this role, as is an appreciation for the role of athletics in recruitment and retention.
In addition to the required record of success, preferred candidates should be analytical, use data and information effectively in planning and decision-making, and be driven toward setting and achieving goals. Experience with the creation of financial aid strategy is required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and a documented record of successful fiscal management and budget oversight are expected. A master’s degree or higher is preferred. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and ability.
