The University of Connecticut, New England’s premier public university, seeks an experienced and energetic administrator, educator, and musician to serve as Head of the Department of Music. The Head will provide leadership for a diverse and active department, and will help realize the vision for future development articulated in the department’s new Strategic Plan.
The Head serves as chief academic and administrative officer of the department and will be expected to represent the department within the University, as well as to regional, national, and international audiences. The Head reports directly to the Dean of the School of Fine Arts. S/he will work with the Dean, department faculty, and students to further the growth of artistic and intellectual excellence within the department and to coordinate and supervise department-sponsored events, faculty and student recruitment, and outreach activities that contribute to the broader artistic, humanistic, and scholarly life of the university and communities beyond.
The Head will be appointed to a rank of Full Professor with tenure. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
