GENERAL DUTIES
Manages on- and off-campus recruiting activities at a College or unit.

  • Develops and implements marketing strategies and recruitment initiatives
  • Manages one or more teams of admissions/recruiting staff, providing supervision, training, and development
  • Manages application review processes
  • Maintains relationships with selected academic divisions/departments to coordinate recruiting efforts
  • Reviews and analyzes the effectiveness of enrollment, recruitment, and marketing strategies
  • Performs related duties as assigned
CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The International Student Service Center (ISSC) coordinates administrative services and all immigration matters for the international students at Baruch College on F-1 and J-1 Visas. The Center also offers information about study abroad programs and arranges programs of special interest to international students. The Manager's primary responsibility is to ensure the College's compliance with the United States Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) related to non-immigrant students. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management.
  • Manages administrative operations of the departmental budget, assessments, staffing, training, compliance and records retention one.
  • Serves as a Designated School Officials (DSO) to manage international students' information in the Student Exchange Visitor Immigration System (SEVIS) database and prepares regular electronic communication to students regarding SEVIS updates and compliance issues.
  • Monitors the interface between the College system and SEVIS to ensure compliance with College, Federal, and immigration regulations and policies.
  • Advises international students on immigration matters and prepares immigration forms.
  • Maintains relationships with selected academic divisions/departments to keep them abreast of current immigration regulations affecting international students and to coordinate the planning and organizing of informational workshops and activities on topics of interest to the international students.
  • Creates and updates content for the ISSC website, bulletin postings, student e-mail listserv, and other media to ensure effective communications to students and campus community.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A Master's degree is preferred. Must be a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident to serve as Designated School Official. Six (6) years experience in international student advising strongly preferred. Experience and skills in cross-cultural advising and counseling preferred. The successful candidate must have a comprehensive knowledge of F-1 and J-1 immigration rules, regulations and procedures, along with familiarity with SEVIS policies and procedures. Must have a strong ability to establish priorities and manage multiple demands and assignments. Attention to detail and exceptional customer service skills are essential, along with excellent organizational, oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Must be proficient using Microsoft Office software programs, other e-mail/scheduling program and education management software.
