PostDoc Researcher (pursuant to BAT IIa) “Ecological Niche Modelling” #B03
Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre BiK-F

We seek a post-doctoral researcher to apply existing and develop new methods for modelling the ecological niches of organisms in the context of global change. Applicants must possess a PhD (or equivalent qualification) for example in biology, ecology, informatics, mathematics or statistics. The successful candidate should have skills and experience in the application of software used for ecological niche modelling. Finally, the applicant is expected to have a strong international publication record. All applicants should enjoy working in an interdisciplinary team and have excellent personnel communication skills. Experience with the handling of remote sensing data and experience in Bayesian statistical methods would be added recommendations. The main tasks of the candidate will be to:

Job Requirements

  • Support members of the research centre to apply existing and develop new methods for modelling the ecological niches of organisms in the context of global change
  • Tailor existing methods of niche modelling to the diverse (botanical, zoological, medicinal, palaeo-ecological) case studies being investigated by members of the research centre
  • Realise own research ideas and concepts. Salary and benefits are according to a public service position in Germany (TV-H).

The contract shall start on February 1st, 2010 and will be initially restricted until June 30th 2011, with a possible extension being subject to personal performance and availability of funds. The duty station will be Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The employer is the SENCKENBERG GESELLSCHAFT FUER NATURFORSCHUNG.
