This is a 12-month, tenure track position which is anticipated to begin July 1, 2010. This position is 75 percent extension/research and 25 percent teaching. Utah State University Cooperative Extension (http://extension.usu.edu) delivers research-based education and information to Utahns throughout the state. Educational programs that address agriculture, community and economic development; 4-H and youth; natural resources and family, finances, food and nutrition, are delivered via a variety of methods and are offered through a federal, state and county partnership. Utah State Cooperative Extension has offices that reach every county and in a very real sense "extends" the university to each citizen of the state.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful applicant will be an individual who can (1) develop and provide research-based information, in-service training, and educational resource materials to strengthen Family Resource Management and Consumer Science Extension programming; (2) demonstrate scholarship appropriate for an Extension specialist, including procurement of external funding and scholarly publications; (3) work closely with various multi-agency project teams, Extension campus and off-campus professionals, and internal and external stakeholders and (4) demonstrate teaching effectiveness in family finance and consumer sciences university courses at the USU-Tooele Regional Campus.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in Family Resource Management, personal finance, consumer science or a closely related area completed by July 1, 2010
  • Demonstrated history of publishing in scholarly journals related to family resource management or consumer sciences
  • Demonstrated competency in teaching, training, and/or providing community outreach programs in family finance related fields
  • Ability to provide state-wide leadership, which includes providing assistance to Extension agents' programming efforts in the area of impacts and evaluation
  • Ability to mentor Extension agents and graduate students
  • Ability to secure external funding
