The division of Preventive Medicine seeks doctoral scientists for multiple faculty positions. Rank and tenure status to be determined based on qualifications and experience.
Candidates from a variety of disciplines such as medicine, public health, behavioral science, psychology, or epidemiology are encouraged to apply. Division research currently includes research programs primarily related to cardiovascular disease, diabetes and obesity, cancer prevention and control, and life-course and aging, with cross-cutting themes of health disparities/vulnerable populations, outcomes research, community-based behavioral science, biostatistics, and population-based clinical trials and observational studies. The UAB Department of Medicine consistently ranks in the top 10 Departments in NIH funding, with Preventive Medicine accounting for a large proportion of federal funding in the Department. The Division and Department are expanding and provide a vibrant environment that stimulates professional growth and provides access to an outstanding infrastructure.

Candidates will be considered who have experience and a strong interest in health services research, cancer prevention and control, racial disparities, obesity, chronic disease epidemiology, genetic epidemiology, quality of care, patient outcomes, clinical effectiveness, women’s health, teaching, changing provider practice patterns, and preventive medicine.
