Assistant Director of Student Services - Advising, LEON (FY17-64)
The College of Southern Maryland

The Assistant Director of Student Services - Advising is the leader of a team of professional academic, career, transfer, and/or temporary advisors and coordinates the academic advising services at the Leonardtown campus.† The Assistant Director is also the campus liaison responsible for coordinating and training faculty and new advisors.† Responsibilities include coordinating and managing the completion agenda initiatives; hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating advisors; and working with students to ascertain educational goals and assisting in the planning for student attainment of those goals.

The work schedule for this position is 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (or 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.). Flexibility is required to work 1-2 nights per week (10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.) and for occasional Saturday hours.† Hours subject to change during peak recruiting periods.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelorís degree in related field
  • Four years experience in academic advising
  • 2 years Supervisory experience
  • Prior experience in a community college preferred
  • Prior teaching or training experience
  • Experienced in use of integrated data system
