Assistant Professor of Music – Bassoon: This is a nine-month tenure–track   position in the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music beginning August, 2016. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.


Teaching duties may include undergraduate and graduate applied bassoon, chamber music, and other classes as determined by the School of Music. Performance as part of the resident Faculty Woodwind Quintet is required. Other expectations include building relationships with area school music educators and actively recruiting students for the wind program. The School of Music: 

The Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music and has a full-time faculty of 43 with approximately 425 music majors. Degree programs include: Bachelor of Music in performance, music history, composition, music education, music business, recording technology, jazz and studio music performance, jazz and studio music composition/arranging and commercial music; Master of Music in performance, musicology, Orff-Schulwerk, music education, pedagogy, jazz and studio music, composition and conducting; Doctor of Philosophy in musicology and music education; Doctor  of Musical Arts in performance, composition, and conducting. A graduate certificate, the Artist Diploma in Music, is also offered.

The School of Music is housed in the College of Communication and Fine Arts.

Job Requirements

  • MM degree in Bassoon Performance.
  • Candidate must demonstrate potential for continued scholarly research/creative activities.
  • College level teaching experience is desired.
