Assistant/Associate Professor in Exercise Physiology

The University of Oklahoma, College of Arts and Sciences is excited about growing the Department of Health and Exercise to accommodate an increasing student demand and to broaden the research scope that is in line with the overall mission of the University. We encourage creative, innovative, dynamic individuals who would like to be part of a strong team committed to both teaching and research to apply for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in Exercise Physiology beginning Fall, 2018.

The Department of Health and Exercise Science is an interdisciplinary program and one of the largest in the College of Arts and Sciences and nationally ranked among the best programs in the country by the National Academy of Kinesiology. The program focuses on Exercise Physiology and Health Promotion and integrates the biological, physiological, medical, and behavioral sciences as they relate to physiological responses to exercise and other aspects of human health. Our faculty balance teaching (45%), research (45%), and service (10%).

Qualifications
Required Expectations:
Qualifications include a PhD or equivalent in Exercise Physiology or related field. Applicants whom are ABD will be considered. Applicants must also have a record of published research or demonstrate research potential, the ability to collaborate within the department and across the university, and the ability to teach and develop both undergraduate and graduate courses related to Exercise Physiology.

Preferred Expectations:
Applicants should be able to teach Exercise Physiology courses (BS/MS/PhD), such as Exercise Physiology Lab, Undergraduate Capstone experiences, Neuromuscular Physiology, and Statistics with an expected teaching load of 2 courses per semester. Having a planned research agenda in neuromuscular physiology with an emphasis on the use of non-invasive techniques (EMG, NIRS, etc.) to study clinical neurological disorders (MS, Parkinson's, etc.) and changes that occur in the neuromuscular system with aging are preferred. However, all areas of expertise will be considered. A demonstrated ability to obtain external funding to support a research program is preferred as is the ability to program using MATLAB, LabView, and similar programs. An ability to mentor both graduate and undergraduate students is also preferred.

Faculty that can add to the research mission of the department, and have the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues, staff and students and contribute to the diversity of the faculty and department is also preferred.
