The Computer Engineering Department at San José State University (SJSU) invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Areas of particular interest include virtual and augmented reality, machine learning and artificial intelligence, robotics, cloud computing and virtualization, big data, networking, mobile systems, cyber security, computer systems architecture, FPGA, and embedded systems, but other areas in computer and software engineering will also be considered.
- A faculty member is expected to teach, supervise, and advise students in both undergraduate and graduate programs, and to establish a research program related to his/her field of interest.
- A faculty member will participate in shared governance, usually in department, college, and university committee and other service assignments.
- A faculty member must address the needs of a student population of great diversity – in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language and academic preparation – through course materials, teaching strategies and advisement.
Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Starting Date: August 17, 2018

The AE Department offers two degree-programs: an MSAE program with an approximate enrollment of 70 and an ABET- accredited BSAE program with an approximate enrollment of 320. Our programs are well known for providing a hands- on engineering education; most of our courses are offered as lecture/lab. AE faculty and students are involved in a variety of projects, many with industry collaboration. The College is the leading provider of engineers to Silicon Valley industry. The campus enrolls more than 30,000 students, a significant percentage of whom are members of minority groups. Student populations in the Department and the College are very diverse.
