Assistant Professor, Theatre

The University of Nebraska at Omaha Theatre program invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor Faculty position beginning August 2018.
We seek a scholar/practitioner of theatre with a focus in history, criticism and literature, and experience working with Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed pedagogy.
Directing ability is desired but not required.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic collaborator who is committed to the liberal arts ethos, passionate about teaching undergraduates and graduates, and fully active in ongoing scholarly, creative and/or community engagement work.
UNO Theatre has seven faculty members and a support staff, a 200-seat flexible theatre, a fully equipped studio space, and dedicated scene and costume shops. UNO Theatre, along with Art & Art History and Writer’s Workshop make up the School of the Arts and is in of the College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and credentials.
Offer undergraduate and graduate courses in theatre history and dramatic literature, theatre theory and criticism, and on occasion, theatre and social justice.
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to advising/mentoring undergraduate/graduate students, ongoing scholarly/creative achievement, and service to the program, university, and profession.
Opportunities for directing either mainstage or studio productions.
Ph.D. in theatre required. Professional stage experience desired.
