DESCRIPTION: Humboldt State University’s School of Business invites applications for an academic year tenure-track faculty position in Management. The mission of the School of Business is to provide entrepreneurial, hands-on, applied learning experience through close student interaction with faculty and the community, with a commitment to sustainable social, environmental, and economic development. The School of Business is currently undergoing significant growth with a focus on developing the next generation of leaders in sustainable and socially responsible business.
RANK, SALARY AND BENEFITS: We seek to fill this position at the Assistant Professor rank; however, rank and salary are dependent on the appointee's qualifications and experience. Professional Duties: Candidates should be committed to teaching excellence and to building a strong research record. Instructional assignments will be consistent with the programmatic needs of the department and students. The primary professional responsibilities of instructional faculty members are: teaching, research and scholarship with graduate and undergraduate students; and service to the University, profession and to the community. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to: advising students, participation in campus and system-wide committees, maintaining office hours, working collaboratively and productively with colleagues, and participation in traditional academic functions.
General Information: The School of Business supports approximately 650 business majors, 100 business minors and an innovative one-year MBA program. The School works collaboratively with regional colleges/universities, local economic development groups, area tribes, and local businesses/non-profits. MINIMUM Qualifications: A Ph.D. or equivalent in Management or a closely related field from an accredited college or university is preferred at time of appointment. In addition, candidates must have a specialization in one or more of the following areas: Data Analytics, Business Intelligence/Decision Sciences, Operations/Project Management and/or related areas. Applicants with considerable progress toward doctorate degree completion by appointment date will be considered. Completion of terminal degree is required prior to the start of the second probationary year following initial appointment.
- Evidence of excellence in teaching as demonstrated by student evaluations;
- Practical experience working in the industry in related skills / areas;
- Ability and interest to teach courses in one or more of the following areas: Data Analytics, Business Intelligence and Decision Sciences, and Operations/Project Management;
- Ability and interest in teaching courses that emphasize principles of sustainable business;
- International experience in teaching, research, or business;
- Commitment to and/or experience in promoting and fostering a learning environment that is supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds;
- Potential for or record of research, scholarly, and/or creative activity involving students; and
- Willingness to participate in the development of online learning experiences.
At the time of appointment, the successful candidate, if not a U.S. citizen, must have authorization from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services to work in the United States.
