The Department of Art at CSUN has over 900 students majoring in Art, 22 full-time faculty, and 60+ part-time faculty and offers a B.A. degree in Art and M.A. and M.F.A. degrees in Visual Arts.

Teach pre-service teachers in the single-subject credential program in art, multiple-subject credential and early childhood programs. Collaboration with art education faculty in an interdisciplinary, studio-based art education program. Provide leadership in curriculum development, and credential preparation. Advise undergraduate majors, supervise single subject credential candidates, participate in committee work at department, college and university levels, act as liaison with other appropriate sectors of the campus responsible for teacher education and with the Pre K-12 community. Demonstrate ongoing commitment to professional memberships and research activities in the field. This position involves working within an undergraduate liberal arts setting with a highly diverse student population. Note that teaching may be assigned in a secondary area of expertise appropriate to the qualifications of the candidate, including courses in the general education curriculum.
Ph.D, or Ed.D. in art education or related field required from and accredited institution. Terminal degree required by date of hire. Strong studio commitment required Applicants must demonstrate commitment, ability and experience in working, teaching and mentoring a diverse student population. Art teaching credential required, K-12 credential preferred. Minimum 3 years experience in K-12 public school teaching required; more preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of foundation art skills, interdisciplinary content, issues-based art education, and standards-based teacher preparation practice; experience teaching in a studio-based program preferred.
