Clark University has a great story to tell, and we’re looking for the right person to tell it. Our Marketing and Communications office seeks to fill the position of Associate Director of Social Media and Content Marketing.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving social media efforts that engage multiple audiences, particularly current and prospective Clark students, and enlighten the world about the accomplishments of our faculty, students and alumni. The candidate also will contribute to our website, writing (well), editing (carefully) and evaluating (astutely) content that will help the University accomplish its twin strategic objectives of strengthening recruitment and enhancing reputation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Included in a range of responsibilities, the Associate Director oversees the university’s main social media channels, strategizes, creates and executes social media campaigns, works to increase engagement among multiple audiences on social media platforms, and exercises sound judgment in creation and dissemination of social media content, specifically regarding value to the institution and appropriateness. In addition, the Associate Director will apply exceptionally strong writing and editing capabilities to create and help manage digital and social media assets, develop content based on analytics, A/B testing, SEO and keyword analysis, and optimize, measure, analyze and report on success of content. The Associate Director will be responsible for project management including determining strategic value of requested digital and social media projects, then guiding accepted projects from inception to completion and planning, executing and evaluating strategic content initiatives, as well as other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements


The successful candidate will have Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or a related field and have 5+ years of writing and editing experience, particularly in positions that require use of digital communications tools like social media, websites and blogs. The successful candidate must have exceptionally strong writing and editing capabilities, strong project management capabilities, including content planning and calendars, and experience using Drupal, Word Press or a similar enterprise-wide content management system and/or blogging platform. Experience in journalism and/or digital marketing preferred; higher education or development experience a plus.

Technical qualifications include knowledge of and experience with major social media channels, content-related analytics, reporting, analytics, A/B testing, SEO and keyword analysis.
