The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a full-time, academic year, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an energetic, well-funded research program; teach pharmacology in the veterinary professional programs; and engage in multidisciplinary and collaborative research. We are especially interested in candidates who are willing and able to assist others in translational aspects of drug discovery.

The Purdue Institute for Drug Discovery (http://www.purdue.edu/research/pcdd/index.php) provides opportunities for participation in discovery, synthesis, testing and translation of new drugs for human and animal disease. Purdue University’s recently established Institutes in Life Sciences provide additional opportunities, particularly in neuroscience and inflammation, immunology and infectious disease (http://www.purdue.edu/research/life-sciences/).

Purdue University’s Department of Basic Medical Sciences is committed to advancing diversity in all areas of faculty effort, including scholarship, instruction, and engagement. Candidates should address in a cover letter their experiences, current interests or activities, and/or future goals to promote a climate that values diversity and inclusion in at least one of those areas of faculty effort. Application materials should also include a complete CV; a 2-3 page description of current and future research and professional goals, which includes a description of professional contributions to the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion; and the names and contact information for three references.

Job Requirements

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in pharmacology or related field and relevant post-doctoral experience. Preference will be given to individuals who also hold a D.V.M. (or equivalent). We seek a pharmacologist who will educate, train, and mentor professional and graduate students. We are especially interested in candidates whose research will advance the Department’s strategic research focus areas of cancer; neuroscience; and musculoskeletal biology and orthopedics.
