Clark University seeks a dynamic, tech-savvy person with excellent interpersonal skills for an entry-level position on a high-performing admissions team. Reporting to the Director of Graduate Admissions-Marketing & Recruiting, the Graduate Admissions Counselor will play a key role in helping to recruit high quality candidates for the graduate programs at Clark University. The Counselor will work with others in the Graduate Admissions Office, as well as with faculty and staff in various degree programs, to meet the graduate enrollment goals of the University.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Graduate Admissions Counselor will execute graduate student recruitment initiatives that include traditional methods such as exhibiting at college fairs and professional conferences, conducting information sessions both on and off campus, coordinating webinars, and engaging in e-mail communication with prospective students. The Counselor will also contribute ideas for creative, new ways to attract prospective students and to yield the best candidates for enrollment.
The Counselor will provide counseling on the admissions process and serve as primary contact for several prospective students, moving them through the admissions process and to enrollment through extensive personal contact as needed.
The Counselor will work closely with the admissions team to plan, organize and manage prospective student visit programs, including arranging individual and group events at different stages of the admissions cycle.
In addition, the Counselor will build and maintain prospective and admitted student communications plans, working closely with relevant faculty and staff to ensure the content is appropriate, and reporting and analyzing communication outcomes. The Counselor will also serve as liaison with other offices on campus to help meet program specific enrollment objectives. The Counselor will perform other related duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university-a Master’s degree is preferred- and excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience in college admissions/marketing and working with students from diverse backgrounds and 1-3 years of relevant work experience is preferred. In addition, the candidate will have a valid driver’s license and the willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed and the ability to lift and transport admissions material. The candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work with limited guidance independently and in groups, and the ability to multi-task, prioritize and follow-up in a timely manner-in the office and while traveling. The ideal candidate will be highly personable and approachable to prospective students and have the ability to work with diverse populations. The candidate will be analytical, and able to make sound judgements and decisions.
Technical skills required include the aptitude to work with databases and information systems and familiarity with MS Office. Some experience with Slate, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) technology, and/or email marketing platforms is desirable.
