Visiting Assistant Professor, Forced Migration, Development & Displacement
The International Development, Community and Environment (IDCE) Department at Clark University seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor with expertise in the broad arena of forced migration, development, and displacement.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to work across academic disciplines, and thrive in a diverse, creative setting. Home to five Masters programs – ES&P (MS), Geographic Information Science for Development and Environment (MS), Community Development and Planning (MA), International Development and Social Change (MA), and Global and Community Health (MHS), two dual degrees (MBA/MS-ES&P, MBA/MA-CDP), and two undergraduate majors (ES&P, International Development), IDCE is developing an exciting portfolio of trans-disciplinary focus areas that include climate change impacts and adaptation, education and development, gender and identity, health equity, and environmental health.
Candidates holding a Ph.D. are preferred, but ABD candidates will be considered. Candidates must provide evidence of teaching excellence.
The teaching load for this position is 3-2, with some responsibility for mentoring MA/MS/MHS students in their professional development and research projects. Courses of interest include (but are not limited to): Development and Displacement, Introduction to Cultural Anthropology, Cultures of Exile, and Qualitative or Quantitative Methods. We are particularly interested in candidates who bridge our focal areas in climate change, environment, and displacement. The position is for one year starting in Fall 2018.
