Job Description

The Learning Technology Director reports to the Dean of Learning Technology and Resources (LTR), within Academic Affairs. This position provides leadership and management for the college’s use and assessment of our Learning Management System and learning technology products. In addition, this position is responsible for creating and presenting “teaching with technology” workshops and developing learning technology resources for faculty, students, and staff. This position will supervise LTR staff as well as collaborate with the Distance Learning and Faculty Development team. This position performs senior-level work that requires a high level of responsibility, training, experience, and competence. Work is usually performed under minimal supervision with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This position requires strong technical, communication, analytic, and organizational skills, along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.

The work schedule for this position is 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Flexibility is required.

Job Requirements

Required Skills

  • Education – Master’s degree required. Preferred fields of study are computer/technology related, such as internet technology, information systems, or computer science. 
  • Preferred – MCSE or similar technical certification
  • Required – Two years of experience working with a Learning Management System, preferably D2L Brightspace.
  • Required – Two years online teaching experience.
  • Required – Two years of experience creating and presenting learning technology training to faculty. 
  • Required – Two years of experience with web programming, web design, and HTML.
  • Required – Two years of experience with learning/instructional technologies.
  • Required – Working knowledge of Captivate, Adobe eLearning tools, and Microsoft Office products
  • Preferred – Experience using Ellucian/Colleague (or another SIS) to run queries, analyze data, and prepare reports
  • Preferred – Two of experience in higher education
  • Demonstrated experience integrating learning technology into instructional design and learning environments.
  • Project management including management of multiple simultaneous tasks, with the ability to work independently, as well as successful collaboration in groups/teams.
  • Demonstrated successful collaboration with faculty and content experts.
  • Strong and comprehensive oral, written, and interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with multiple constituencies.
  • This position must be able to use conflict resolution techniques when working with difficult issues.
  • Structured and organized thinker who executes well, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic “team” environment.
