Texas A&M AgriLife Research
Supervises and coordinates all aspects of the operation of the Weslaco Research and Extension Center. Supervise and direct activities of center research faculty. Administers TAMAR physical, fiscal, and Human Resource assigned to the Center Director.
Develops and administers research program with emphasis on regional needs and priorities.
Provides leadership for regional strategic planning for research with active involvement of the
AgriLife leadership, department heads, and relevant center directors. Interacts with regional industry leaders and Extension personnel about research programs and solicits input on research needs.
Develops and/or lead research teams to respond to internal and external research grant opportunities with involvement of research faculty from AgriLife and other research institutions.
Initiates active involvement of department heads in defining required expertise, and recruiting
and evaluation of faculty. Recommends promotion and salary adjustments for center research faculty.
Coordinates regional activities with District Extension Directors in the region and regional councils to reflect comprehensive representation of Agriculture Program and TAMUS, involving department heads, relevant center directors and AgriLife administrators.
Maintains communication with Agriculture Program administration, Department Heads, and other TAMUS components regarding regional issues affecting the Agriculture Program or other TAMUS components.
PhD in related field.
3+ years of management experience.
