Assistant/Associate Professor of Political Science (Public Administration)

The St. Mary’s University Political Science Department is conducting a search for an Assistant or Associate Professor. The desired applicant must hold a Ph.D. in political science or a Doctorate in public administration (DPA) from an accredited University with major concentrations in areas related to Public Administration and American Politics. This position seeks teaching and research in graduate areas of Public Sector Performance or Organizational Management, Research Methods in Public Administration, Public Policy and undergraduate teaching and research experience in American Politics and/or Political Behavior.
The position is a full-time, tenure track appointment, commencing in August 2019. Department faculty cover a full range of courses in a general graduate degree in public administration (MPA program), an undergraduate political science degree, and provide support to core courses in the university core curriculum. The typical teaching load at the University is four courses per semester. Course releases for administrative positions tied to department or graduate program responsibilities are also typical. The department is the civic conscience of the university and fosters the building of “the good life” through education of the whole student, committed to civic engagement, justice and service to society. The Department resides in the School of Humanities and Social Science.
Founded in 1852 by the Society of Mary, St. Mary’s is a comprehensive Catholic and Marianist university with a strong tradition of integrating liberal arts with professional studies. St. Mary’s enrolls approximately 3,800 students in a diverse university with four schools, more than 40 academic programs including Ph.D. and J.D. programs, and numerous pre-professional programs.
