Assistant Professor of Music Music Ed Choral
University of Memphis

Assistant Professor of Music Music Ed Choral. This is a nine-month, tenure track, position in the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music beginning August, 2019. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

The successful candidate will oversee the Choral Music Ed program. Teaching duties may include undergraduate and graduate music education classes (online and on-campus), conduct a choral ensemble and supervising music education residents. The faculty member will advise undergraduate students and serve as advisor to graduate theses and dissertations.

Other expectations include maintaining positive relationships with area school music educators, actively recruiting students for the Music Education program, service on School of Music, College of Communication and Fine Arts, and University committees and service to professional organizations within the field.

Professional engagement, including publications and presentations at state, regional, national, and international professional conferences, is expected.

Job Requirements

Terminal degree in Music Education (ABD considered).

Candidate must have a minimum of three years of successful K-12 music teaching experience and experience teaching at the collegiate level. Candidate must demonstrate potential for continued scholarly research leading to articles in appropriate publications.
