The Department of Language Studies at the University of Toronto Mississauga invites applications for a teaching-stream appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream in the area of Education Studies, International Education, Equity and Diversity. The position start date is July 1, 2019.
The successful candidate will be expected to undertake teaching at the undergraduate level at the University of Toronto Mississauga, to participate in the development of undergraduate curriculum, and to collaborate with the Department’s Language Teaching & Learning Program. In addition to core teaching responsibilities, the position includes coordinating and developing new second language pedagogy & learning courses, developing curricular materials and teaching tools, as well as training and supervising teaching assistants. Further, the successful candidate will be expected to engage in and add to the co-curricular and experiential learning activities offered in the Department, to contribute to the expansion of programs in Education Studies, and to engage in community and international outreach.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate must have earned a PhD in Education or in a closely related field by July 1, 2019. An established record of excellence in teaching, including extensive knowledge of pedagogical content development and curriculum design, and a demonstrated commitment to continued pedagogical/professional development are required. Candidates must have teaching expertise in a degree granting program at the undergraduate level, including lecture preparation and course delivery, curriculum development, and development of online material/lectures.
We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and strengthen our existing departmental strengths. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated expertise in the area of Equity and Diversity in Education and who have extensive experience designing and directing educational leadership initiatives. Native or near-native proficiency in English is required.
Evidence of excellence in teaching and pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, strong letters of reference from referees of high standing, and the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application, including a strong coherent teaching statement, sample syllabi, course materials, and excellent teaching evaluations.
