Director of Bands

Responsibilities: Conduct the USC Wind Ensemble (the top wind band); teach and administer the graduate programs in wind conducting; and guide and oversee all activities and operations of the university band program. Other teaching duties may be determined by qualifications, preference, and institutional needs.
The Director of Bands will exercise administrative and budget authority in the band area and actively participate in the recruitment of students. The Director of Bands is expected to maintain a high level of professional visibility.
Candidates should have an established record of teaching, performance, and scholarship. The successful candidate will offer significant experience and proven excellence as a wind band conductor as well as a commitment to music education. While secondary school teaching experience is highly desirable, college teaching experience is required. An earned masterís degree in music is required; an earned doctorate in music is preferred.
