TCU Department of Theatre invites applications for a full-time, annually-renewable, non-tenure-track, Instructor of Theatre. The TCU undergraduate theatre program offers the BFA pre-professional training degree, and the BA liberal arts degree, and seeks a collaborative colleague who is an outstanding classroom teacher.
Position begins August 19, 2019, teaching courses primarily in the TCU Core Curriculum, specifically multiple sections of Survey of Musical Theatre, as well as courses within the Theatre Department curriculum, as assigned.
Qualifications: MFA, Ph.D., or other terminal degree, or significant professional experience, required. Minimum of 3 years university teaching experience preferred. Professional experience as a theatre artist is also highly desirable.
Required Duties: Two semesters of teaching 3 - 4 courses per term. Teaching load will likely include multiple sections of general education courses in Survey of Theatre and/or Survey of Musical Theatre, as well as other courses in the candidate’s specialty such as Directing, Acting I, or various styles of dance (in rotation).
The person serving in this position is not required to participate in scholarship, creativity, or service activities beyond mentoring and meeting with students to support their work in classes, nor will this person have assigned Theatre TCU production responsibilities.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate outstanding teaching skills in large lecture courses, and smaller discussion courses. Collegial communication with our faculty, professional staff, and students is expected. Benefits package is included.
