Instructor Position
Computational Genomics, Bioinformatics, or Molecular Cancer Biology

Wang Laboratory of the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center seeks applications for a full time Research Instructor faculty position in the Department of Pathology, University of Pittsburgh. The individual will be working on our integrative computational genomics initiatives aimed at identifying pathological genetic aberrations, predictive biomarkers, and therapeutic targets from cancer genomics datasets, as well asdeveloping novel bioinformatics tools and models to predict therapeutic responses of targeted therapies and immune therapies. The candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree in the Biomedical Sciences. Preference will be given to highly motivated candidates with an outstanding publication record in cancer research, and those with establishedexpertise in computational genomics, bioinformatics and biostatistics, ormolecular cancer biology. The candidate may choose to work on dry or wet laboratory projectsor both.

There search topics for computational genomics and translational bioinformatics will include: 1) Develop novel mathematical, statistical, and artificial intelligence (AI) models,as well as bioinformatics tools, to predict therapeutic outcome of targeted therapies and immune therapies based on deep sequencing and single cell sequencing datasets. 2) Perform integrative analysis of deep-sequencing datasets and integrate these datasets with drug sensitivity datasets to identify predictive biomarkers for targeted therapies. 3) Catalogpathological genetic alterations in cancer through integrative analysis of whole-genome and transcriptome sequencing datasets.

The research topics for molecular cancer biology will include studying recurrent genomic rearrangements, predictive biomarkers, and targeted agents inmore aggressive forms of breast cancers.The primary responsibilities will include experimental validation of newly discovered cancer targets and predictive biomarkers, characterize their molecular basis,elucidating their clinical significance using patient samples, confirming their role in tumor initiation, progression, and therapeutic resistance in vitro and in vivo, pin pointing their action mechanisms, and exploring potential clinical applications.

Wang laboratory is a computational genomics and translational cancer research lab at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, Department of Pathology, University of Pittsburgh. The long-term goal of this lab is to apply a multiple disciplinary approach inclusive of computational genomics, bioinformatics, molecular cancer biology,and translational studies to identify viable cancer targetsand predictive biomarkers, as well as developing the bioinformatics tools for genomics-based cancer precision medicine. Job Requirements

The candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree in the Biomedical Sciences.
