The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Memphis anticipate hiring a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Statistics to begin in August 2019, pending final budgetary approval. Applications are invited from candidates with a PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, or closely related fields, whose area of research interests include data science, statistical modelling of big data, Bayesian Inference, bioinformatics, biostatistics and other areas related to the modeling and analysis of big data. Candidates are expected to have a proven record of collaborative research, strong communications skills, and will be expected to seek external funding. The Department has a strong PhD program in Statistics with very active research collaborations within and external to several departments and within and external to the University.
The successful candidate will typically teach two courses per semester in statistics and conduct collaborative research especially in the context of projects related to data science and big data modeling and analysis.
