Open Rank Tenured/Tenure Track Cluster Hire in Cybersecurity
Tennessee Technological University

Multiple, full-time, nine-month, tenured/tenure-track positions to begin August 1, 2019. All ranks considered.

The Department of Computer Science at Tennessee Tech University (TTU) is accepting applications for multiple positions at the Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor levels as part of a cluster hire in Cybersecurity.

Selected candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in computer science, engage in scholarly activities, develop externally funded research programs in Information Assurance and Security, direct the research of undergraduate students and graduate students at both the M.S. and Ph.D. levels, serve on committees at the departmental, college, and university levels, engage in professional and public service, and advise students on academic curricula, professionalism, and career opportunities. The faculty is expected to be involved in activities of Tennessee Tech’s Cybersecurity Education, Research and Outreach Center (CEROC) in some capacity. CEROC is an NSA/DHS accredited Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education and offers the largest federal CyberCorps Scholarship for Service program in Tennessee.

Job Requirements

Minimum qualifications include an earned Ph.D. from an accredited institution in computer science, or a closely related field by the start date of employment; desire to strive for teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels; potential to develop and conduct externally funded Information Assurance and Security research; engagement in scholarly activities as demonstrated by peer-reviewed journal and conference publications; and effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in computer science; relevant teaching experience; experience in research and proposal writing; experience or affiliation with NSA/DHS Centers of Academic Excellence; industrial experience; experience with student security clubs, outreach activities, and security offense/defense competitions; and an ability to contribute to the department in the areas of Data Science and/or High Performance & Distributed Computing.

About the Department

TTU’s Department of Computer Science has an ABET accredited program in Computer Science, fourteen full-time faculty members and approximately 550 students ( 500 undergraduate, and 50 graduate students in our M.S. and Ph.D. programs). The department conducts comprehensive teaching and research in both basic and applied aspects of computer science. Research activities in the department are broadly categorized into Information Assurance & Security, Knowledge Discovery, and High Performance & Distributed Computing. The department has multiple funded research programs from the National Science Foundation that are currently active and has multiple active collaborations across campus, with other colleges and universities, and with Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Committed to diversity, the TTU Computer Science Department founded the National Women in Cybersecurity Conference and NCWIT Aspiration Awards for High School girls in Tennessee.

About Tennessee Tech and the City of Cookeville

TTU is located in Cookeville, Tennessee, at the foothills of the upper Cumberland region and is easily accessed of of Interstate 40 with a low cost of living. Cookeville, a town of about 30,000 people offers the best of rural and urban living. Centrally located among three of Tennessee’s largest cities, the campus is surrounded by lakes, state parks, mountains and rivers in one of the most ecologically diverse climates in the nation.
