Assistant Professor of Human Resources Management
Metropolitan State University

METROPOLITAN STATE UNIVERSITY, a vibrant and growing public, urban university, is seeking to fill one full-time, probationary (tenure-track) faculty position in Human Resources Management within the Management, Entrepreneurship & Human Resources Department (MEHR) located in the College of Management beginning August, 2019.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach Human Resource courses including Human Resource Management, Compensation Management, and Employee Benefits
  • Teach assigned departmental courses at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral level
  • Engage in scholarly research or creative activities
  • Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study
  • Contribute to student growth and development through advising
  • Engage in service to the department, college, university, and community
  • Serve a culturally diverse student body by delivering student-centered education and work effectively with a wide range of individuals
  • Deliver courses via multiple formats, times, and locations including classroom and online, daytime and/or evening, and at multiple locations throughout the Twin Cities area
  • Lead course and curriculum development in the position or area to which candidates are applying

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Management, or related field
  • Minimum of one year of full-time (or equivalent) teaching experience, with a record of excellence in teaching similar courses at the university level
  • Record of active involvement in scholarly work
  • Excellent reputation working with students and providing trusted guidance to young adults
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) to communicate with a variety of persons and groups
  • Demonstrated ability and/or willingness to work in an institution with a culturally, economically, and linguistically diverse community of non-traditional students
  • Demonstrated ability to teach Human Resource courses including Human Resource Management, Compensation Management, and Employee Benefits

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Evidence of effective teaching
  • Evidence of outstanding research or scholarly accomplishment
  • Evidence of outstanding service
  • Professional experience in the position or area to which candidates are applying
  • Experience delivering courses in multiple formats including face-to-face, hybrid/blended, and fully online
  • Experience advising traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds
  • Willingness to teach daytime and/or evening courses in multiple locations throughout the Twin Cities area
  • Ability to lead course and curriculum development in the position or area to which candidates are applying
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in assessment/accreditation.
  • Experience in academic leadership positions (e.g. Program Director, Department Chair etc.)

Salary:† Salary is commensurate with education and experience, and is determined by the salary placement process as outlined in the Inter Faculty Organization (IFO) Master Agreement.
