Under the supervision of the Manager of Administrative Computing Services, this position provides technical support for the Otis College’s Administrative Enterprise Applications such as Banner, Banner Self Service, Banner Document Management System, Evisions Products, Degree Works, CBORD One Card System and Ellucian Portal. This position requires an in-depth understanding of the database structure and Banner system processes and interfaces. Position may be required to be available after hours. This position also works with the Vice President of IT & Operations on special technical project initiatives as assigned.
•Assists in developing and automating reports and dashboards using Evisions Argos and Oracle SQL Developer, writes query reports and ad-hoc reports as required.
•Develops and maintains PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, triggers and Database Views using Oracle SQL Developer.
•Uses Oracle PL/SQL coding dealing with custom data mapping structures and sets automation of secure files transfer tasks with Unix/Windows Scripting.
•Creates complex queries for application database calls.
•Collaborates and provides technical support to Business Office, Payroll, Purchasing, Human Resources, Institutional Advancement and Students Services including training users on application software, data imports and analysis, building reports, troubleshooting Banner System Processes errors and other ERP related issues.
•Maintains Banner and Degree Works User Access List and Functional Permissions.
•Applies required patches and upgrades on a regular basis. Maintains the latest versions of all third party tools that coordinate with the Banner ERP system by upgrading them in their relevant Saas environments. Performs analysis, testing and troubleshooting to confirm that the upgrades are successful in coordination with the Database Administrator.
•Assists in the maintenance, development, deployment and support of any processes that interface with Banner and Degree Works.
•Assists in the maintenance, support and customizations of the Otis College Dashboard (Ellucian Portal); update site contents, create new sites, maintain user and content security. Implements Single Sign On (SSO) service to eligible system applications.
•Participates with any research, acceptance testing and implementation of systems modules when needed for new processes, patches, integrations and upgrades.
•Develops and maintains specific documentation and associated plans for applications maintenance, upgrades, appropriate use and administration.
•Prepares detailed technical specifications, identified report data requirements, template, design and ensures compliance with data standards and specifications.
•Performs other duties or special projects as required.
•Bachelor’s Degree/Associate’s Degree in Computer Information Systems or any Computer related field with a minimum of 3 years of IT Application support experience
•Proficiency in using any of the following technologies: Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL, Access.
•Familiarity with any Student Information Systems or other ERP Systems.
•Must be highly self‐motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
•Must be well organized, be able to prioritize, and keep meticulous records including detailed documentation for technology systems and processes.
•Must have effective interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with culturally diverse populations, college administrators, faculty, staff, students, and the public.
•Must have proven analytical and problem‐solving skills.
•Ability to work independently and as a member of a team in accomplishing tasks.
•Ability to handle multiple, complex and varied assignments in a timely manner.
•Ability to analyze and interpret data and to clearly and effectively communicate technical information to individuals at all levels of the organization with varying levels of understanding.
•Ability to create and maintain detailed testing plans and associated scripts.
•Ability to conduct research into administrative system issues and products as required.
•Good working knowledge of MS operating systems, LINUX, UNIX is a plus.
•Microsoft SharePoint Experience & knowledge of Single Sign on Technologies.
•Some web development experience, e.g. PHP, HTML, CSS, is desirable
•Knowledge and skill in creating and administering technical training sessions for college administrators, faculty, and staff and present ideas in user‐friendly language.
•Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws (FERPA, PHI, et al).
•Experienced in creating both technical and user manuals for new and existing applications.
•Experienced with managing vendors and contractors.
•Experienced with designing business based solutions to support the functions in various business units, preferably in a higher education environment.
