The University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (UB SPPS) Department of Pharmacy Practice is seeking: a qualified rank (clinical-track) faculty at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level for the role of Director of Experiential Education.
Teaching responsibilities include: Didactic teaching of required and elective courses as agreed to with the Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice; participation in simulation-based learning teaching; coordination of courses in the PharmD Program; and, participation in curriculum planning and assessment.
The faculty member is expected to develop and engage in independent and collaborative scholarly activities in his/her area of expertise. Collaborative scholarship is encouraged among faculty colleagues and site-based preceptors. The faculty member will be provided with mentorship, advanced training, and start-up funds to help position him/her for success in this area.
The faculty member will serve as the School's Director of Experiential Education, overseeing the introductory (IPPE) and advanced pharmacy practice experience (APPE) program. This will include: managing staff of the Office of Experiential Education; overseeing student scheduling for IPPEs and APPEs; interfacing with and training site-based preceptors; and, performing routine quality assessment of training sites and rotations. The faculty member will have a unique opportunity to lead the development and implementation of a layered learning model consisting of experiential rotations (APPE and IPPE) with a focus on transitions of care within identified health care institution(s) in Western New York. This person will also serve the Department, School, and University (e.g., through active participation on committees, student recruitment and advisement, etc.) as agreed to with the Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice.

Qualifications must include: a PharmD and postdoctoral training (PGY1); and PGY2/post-doctoral-fellowship or equivalent experience. Candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure in New York State. Experience in Academia is preferred, preferably in the area of Experiential Education. Candidates are expected to have a track record of scholarly productivity commensurate with their level of experience.
