Upper Division Lab Instructor/coordinator

The Department of Biological Sciences invites applications from academically qualified and professionally experienced individuals for a non-tenure track, 12-month position as Instructor and Upper division lab Coordinator.
The primary assignment for the successful candidate will coordinate the content and teaching of labs associated with the required upper division biology courses (Genetics, Cell Biology, Ecology, and Evolution) as well as those of Biochemistry and Microbiology or other courses as needed. The Department of Biological Sciences is committed to developing novel learning activities that will prepare students for success in a fast-paced global environment. Coordination of the labs includes continued review and updating of course content, training of the teaching assistants for the labs, synchronizing lab activities with the material of the lecture course, and working with the biology stockroom doing the lab prep. Labs for these courses are taught every semester (Fall, Spring, and Summer). Teaching in undergraduate upper division courses or their labs may be expected, depending on specialization and departmental needs. The Biological Sciences Department has 5000+ undergraduate majors, ~120 graduate students, and 56 faculty members on two large campuses (http://www.fiu.edu/about-us/campuses/index.html), one in west Miami (MMC), and one in North Miami on Biscayne Bay (BBC). This position will be primarily located at the MMC campus.
