Assistant Professor of Fashion Design
Albright College invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor of Fashion Design beginning August 15, 2019. This faculty position is situated within the Fashion Department which is an integral part of Albright College’s Center for the Arts. It is consistently one of the top 5 enrolled majors on campus. Last year Albright was ranked number 20 on the list of top private fashion design schools in the United States by fashion-schools.org.
The Fashion Department is searching for a new colleague who is committed to the success of our students both in and outside of the classroom. This commitment includes academic advising, participation in recruiting students and participation in departmental events. The position includes a course release for acting as design studio coordinator. The design studio coordinator is responsible for making sure the design studio is kept in clean and working order.
Position Qualifications: To be considered for tenure track, the candidate must have an M.F.A. or PhD in Fashion Design. M.A./M.S. degrees considered if there is strong evidence of scholarship/creative work and professional development. A successful candidate will show success in teaching undergraduate students design and construction at all levels, from introduction to advanced, including patternmaking and draping. Knowledge of commercial and industrial sewing machines is essential. Experience in teaching textiles and/or fashion history is desirable. Knowledge of computer design/production programs from Adobe, Lectra and Gerber used within the fashion industry and industry experience is preferred.
