Associate Research Scientist
Associate Research Scientist in the Bone Bioengineering Laboratory in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University in the City of New York. The Bone Bioengineering Laboratory in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University in New York City is looking to hire a biomedical engineer for the investigation of the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying and/or therapeutic approaches for the disease of osteoporosis.
The candidate will help design, test and implement new experiments, investigate the effects of transfection on biochemical signaling via cAMP and adenylyl cyclase mediated pathways within the osteocyte primary cilium. Experience with computational modeling is desired.
The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining the functionality of the Bone Bioengineering Laboratory and will be expected to apply for external funding opportunities.
Applicants should have a PhD or its professional equivalent in Biomedical Engineering or related field by the start date of the appointment.
Extensive experience in computational and experimental methods in biomechanics (mechanical testing, tissue characterization, etc.), cell and tissue culture techniques (PCR, SiRNA Transfection, ELISA, etc.), computer modeling (ABAQUS, ANSYS & FEBio) and matlab programming are required.
