The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Kentucky is transforming and expanding its research enterprise and anticipates recruiting in the area of Pharmaceutics for a 12-month, tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level with an anticipated start date of Fall 2019. Outstanding individuals in the field of pharmaceutics, drug delivery, or advanced formulations are encouraged to apply. Of particular interest are candidates with research interests in formulation and delivery of biologics; personalized, on-demand formulation; and gene or cell therapies. Special consideration will be given to candidates whose research interests complement our Department's signature themes including substance use disorders, cancer, neurological & metabolic disorders, and infectious diseases.
The Department resides in a 286,000 sq. ft. building located at the center of the combined medical and academic campus and encourages close interactions with other departments and centers at the University of Kentucky. These include nationally recognized centers of excellence in neuroscience (Sanders-Brown Center on Aging, Spinal Cord and Brain Injury Research Center), cancer (NCI-designated Markey Cancer Center), cardiovascular disease (Gill Heart Institute), infectious disease, and clinical/translational research. In addition, the College houses the Center for Pharmaceutical Research and Innovation and the Molecular Modeling and Biopharmaceuticals Center. Collectively these research centers cultivate and provide expertise in all aspects of drug discovery and development as well as translational science.
All candidates must possess a Ph.D. or other advanced degree(s) in pharmaceutical sciences, chemical engineering, or a related discipline and a record of scholarship and research productivity. Selected candidates will be expected to develop/maintain an extramurally-supported research program, engage in an innovative Colleges of Pharmacy and Engineering graduate training program, and contribute significantly to providing the conceptual and practical skills in Pharmaceutics needed for the next generation of our Pharm.D. students to be leaders in their fields of practice.
