Associate Research Scientist
The Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at Columbia University seeks applications for a position as an Associate Research Scientist. The candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Jacob Fish.
As an Associate Research Scientist, the incumbent will work to further the research of the laboratory, and occasionally may be asked to supervise student projects related to the research and other topics within the scope of the research group. In addition, the candidate will be expected to assist in the development and submission of research proposals to funding agencies offering sponsor research programs in areas related to the research. The immediate research area mathematical and computational modeling of energy absorption of ship structures at multiple scales.
The Associate Research Scientist is a professional officer of research whose qualifications are equivalent to those of an assistant professor with at least 3 years prior experience. ARS are expected to be able to coordinate independent research in the area of their training.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Independent research capability is of high value.
