Assistant Professor - Human Genetics/Genomics
The New Jersey Center for Science, Technology and Mathematics at Kean University is seeking outstanding candidates for a faculty position at the assistant professor rank to provide support to the department in both teaching and research in the area of Human Genetics and Genomics, with a strong emphasis on integrating these areas into Molecular Biology/Biotechnology and Biomedicine. The candidate will teach graduate courses in Genetics, Genomics, Molecular Biology and Translational Science & Medicine. The candidate will support the developing MS in Genetic Counseling program via both teaching and research.
Candidates will be expected to contribute to research, teaching and service in the integrated STEM program; to establish an active research program; seek extramural funding; mentor undergraduate and graduate students; and actively participate in strengthening and expanding connections with local businesses for internship and externship opportunities for students. Participation in curriculum development, student advisement and service at the departmental/school, college and university level is also required.
Successful candidates for this position will have earned a PhD, MD or equivalent degree in the area of Genetics & Genomics, with a strong background in Molecular Biology and Translational Science or a related field.
A minimum of two years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level is required. Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable.

All open faculty positions are ten-month, full-time, tenure-track assignments at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective September 1, 2019. Teaching assignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, weekend and online courses. Courses are taught at the Union campus but some positions may include assignments at Kean Ocean in Toms River, New Jersey or other locations.
