Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Laboratory Science
The Division of Arts and Sciences at Neumann University invites applications for a full-time assistant or associate professor position in Biology/Clinical Laboratory Sciences, starting August 2019.
Primary responsibilities include teaching didactic and laboratory aspects of general and clinical microbiology, parasitology, mycology, and other courses in the successful candidate’s area of specialization in a NAACLS-accredited Bachelor of Science program.
Teaching responsibilities shall include other appropriate course assignments (primary instructor, course coordinator) in our integrated sophomore through senior biology/clinical laboratory science program. Non-teaching responsibilities include scholarship (e.g., conference attendance, publication, etc.) and service to the profession, university, and community. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in program and curriculum development, interact with clinical training sites, recruit and advise undergraduate students, and participate in shared governance.
Candidates must also possess an appreciation for and congruence with the Franciscan mission of the University.
Salary and rank are commensurate with education and experience.
Neumann University does not offer tenure, but relies upon a policy-driven contract system.
Applicants must have current certification as an MLS (ASCP) or MLS(ASCP); a minimum of a master's degree in a field of science and two years clinical microbiology or directly related experience; evidence of continuing professional development; and excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Candidates with a terminal degree will be preferred.
