Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide in-person and virtual reference instruction and information service to students, faculty, staff and the college community. Prepare, develop, and deliver instruction to students, faculty and staff in the use of information resources and technologies in various modalities (including individual, classroom, online, etc.). Prepares online and physical instructional materials, including handouts, videos and LibGuides. Develop and assess student learning outcomes for library services and instruction. Review and select print and electronic materials for library acquisition. Serve as a faculty liaison to assigned schools. Develop and participate in the librarys outreach services. Serve on college committees and participate in college‐wide governance. Maintain current knowledge in the subject‐matter area and in effective teaching/learning strategies; maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics. Assignment may include evening and/or weekend hours. Participate in general faculty functions in relation to the educational program, in‐service programs and professional development.

The successful candidate must meet one of the following criteria:
1. Masters degree in library science, library and information science OR the equivalent from an accredited college or university; OR
2. Valid California Community College instructor credential appropriate to the subject per Education Code 87355 (issued prior to July 1, 1990), OR
3. A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of item 1 above. (Applicants making application on the basis of equivalency must submit the Supplemental Application for Equivalency Determination form in addition to all other required materials).
Minimum of two (2) years recent professional experience in an academic library (preferably in community college), with an emphasis on library instruction and evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students; OR
For recent library school graduates with experience in teaching, a specialization in academic librarianship and evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Preference will be given those candidates who demonstrate a high level of professional expertise on the basis of:
Demonstrated knowledge of information literacy best practices in strategies, methodologies, and practice within academic libraries
Knowledge of current research methods including both print and electronic resources
Knowledge of current technology applications relevant to library services and instruction
Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills for multiple audiences
MLIS or MLS from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution.
Experience in reference and instruction services in an academic library to a diverse patron community.
Demonstrable ability to work collaboratively and collegially with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
Knowledge of current instruction pedagogy involving student engagement through active learning and in conjunction with established student learning outcomes
Demonstrated ability and interest in new programming initiatives and outreach in an academic setting
Excellent demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple ongoing projects
Experience with assessment of information literacy and library instruction services
Demonstrable knowledge of educational resources OERs, open access, or digital instructional materials
Experience as a liaison with college divisions to develop collaborative, productive relationships with faculty
Knowledge of library collection development
Excellent demonstrated analytical, project management, and pro-active problem solving skills
Demonstrated ability to respond effectively to changing needs and priorities
Experience participating and serving in campus governance
Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and apply skills quickly
Adept at handling multiple responsibilities
Demonstrated commitment to student success and quality service
