The Photography Lab Technician is a non-exempt, part-time position. This technician will work directly with the Full Time Photography Lab Technician and the Photography Lab Manager in accordance with goals, procedures, and directions set forth by the Director of Technical Support Services. The work schedule averages 16-24 hours per week. The work schedule will be developed to accommodate staffing the facility and will require evening and/or weekend hours. This position reports directly to the Photography Lab Manager.
Areas of responsibility for this position are as follows: Photo Lab, Photo Crib, and Lighting Studio.
-Provides technical assistance for students, faculty, and staff.
-Assists student workers.
-Performs facility reservations, properly check out/in and secure all inventory, including: cameras and accessories.
-Monitors the use of water and chemicals to insure that there are no spills or cross contamination in the B &W Lab and film processing area.
-Monitors and continuously calibrate all parts of the digital output chain: computer-scanner-printer-paper-printer
-Assists in servicing, maintaining, repairing and improving the lab facilities and equipment within ones professional ability.
•Other duties as assigned.
A degree or advanced training in Photography is required. Working knowledge of the following is required: black and white processing and printing, digital profiling and printing, lighting equipment, both film and digital cameras, and print finishing. This individual must have good communication skills, good customer relations and exhibit mechanical aptitude. Candidate should be both punctual and professional. Individual must be able to lift up to 30lbs without accommodations. Must be able to work evenings and/or weekends based on business necessity.
Photoshop and Lightroom software knowledge preferred.
