Endowed Chair in Digital Health
West Virginia University

The Statler College seeks applications and nominations for a unique endowed Statler chair in the field of digital health. The successful applicant will provide leadership to a team of researchers focused on applying computational tools to problems in medicine and healthcare. Areas of critical interest include applications of machine learning, artificial intelligence, remote patient care, human-computer interactions, and data analytics to enhance the quality of healthcare while reducing the total costs. The successful applicant will lead the creation of new research partnerships, including building research collaborations across multiple departments within the Statler and other colleges, and especially the WVU Health Sciences Center (HSC), as well other universities, foundations, and institutes in the United States and abroad. WVU is conducting world class research in its Clinical Translation Science Center (http://www.wvctsi.org), Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute (https://wvumedicine.org/rni/), Heart and Vascular Institute (https://wvumedicine.org/heart/), and Cancer Institute (https://wvumedicine.org/cancer/) that provide great opportunities for developing exciting and meaningful collaborations in cross-cutting, innovative research themes.

We seek a dynamic leader with outstanding technical expertise and a proven, ongoing track record of internationally recognized scholarly accomplishments, supported by publications in prestigious journals, external funding, and a demonstrated record of leadership and collaboration with researchers. We invite such applications from candidates currently at the rank of tenured Professor or tenured Associate Professors who have demonstrated exceptional achievement and continuing promise. We also welcome candidates that have at least 5 years of equivalent experience in the private sector or national laboratories/institutes. The appointment to this endowed chair will be at the rank of Professor with tenure.

The successful applicant must hold an earned Ph.D. in engineering, computer science or a very closely related field; or a MD/Ph.D. degree. They must have demonstrated professional and interpersonal skills that can help build and lead interdisciplinary research teams, consortia and/or centers or show evidence of industrial collaborations or experience supported by patents and/or technology transfer activities.

WVU is the State’s comprehensive Land Grant University with a main campus enrollment of about 27,000 students. WVU has a Carnegie Classification R1– Highest Research Activity. Morgantown and vicinity has a population of about 62,000 residents and is ranked among the most livable small cities in the country. The community lies within a high technology corridor that also includes several federal research facilities. The city is within reasonable driving distances from Pittsburgh, PA and Washington, D.C.
