The Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM) is looking for an experienced medical educator to teach Anatomy and Neuroanatomy to first year medical students on the Middletown, NY campus. TouroCOM faculty use an innovative “flipped” classroom approach to delivering the curriculum and students in the human anatomy lab learn through a combination of classical cadaver dissection, the study of plastinated models, and a custom designed holographic 3-D anatomy system.


The Anatomy faculty position specifically involves collaborating with faculty on the Harlem campus in the development, organization and delivery of the first year Clinical Anatomy and Neuroanatomy curricula presented simultaneously on both campuses. The successful candidate will have experience teaching both lectures and labs in both a Clinical Anatomy course and a Neuroanatomy course.

Although a commitment to excellence in teaching is the primary responsibility of the position, faculty members also serve on the administrative committees of the college and are expected to already have, or to develop scholarly activity that results in peer-reviewed publications.

Job Requirements


Education, Preparation, and Training

Applicants must have at least a MS degree in Anatomy or a related field, however, a PhD, DO or MD degree is preferred. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of exceptional teaching at the medical school level in the areas mentioned in the job responsibilities section, have experience designing anatomy and neuroanatomy instructional materials, and work well with the rest of faculty team.


The ideal candidate will be proficient in the following areas: Relevant content expertise, research techniques, instructional design, delivery and assessment, course management, psychometrics/statistics, learning theory, public speaking, effective communication, conflict management.

Computer Skills

Basic computer skills supporting the proficient use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Excel, as well as software used to prepare and administer written exams electronically and experience with Learning Management Systems.


Infrequent travel to the branch campus location in Manhattan, NY. Travel to professional academic conferences, as approved by the Department Chair.
