Senior Financial Aid Specialist
Harford Community College

The Senior Financial Aid Specialist coordinates and administers various financial aid programs and performs related tasks as assigned by the Director for Financial Aid. Duties include, but are not limited to, providing general information and assistance to students and parents; processing financial aid applications and awards in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations; reviewing and verifying documentation provided by students and parents/guardians; working collaboratively with other College departments; conducting student, parent/guardian, and community outreach, including preparing and presenting workshops; participating in College events including commencement, Open Houses, and Financial Aid Nights; and supporting Financial Aid department or College-wide projects, initiatives, committees, and work groups.

Additional assignments may include work with federal loan and alternative loan programs; assisting with monthly loan reconciliation; assisting with updates to policy and documentation; ISIR data load; sending and receiving Pell and loans to Common Origination and Disbursement; and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

This is an exempt, professional staff position.

Job Requirements

A bachelor's degree and minimum three years of financial aid experience in higher education are required. Applicants will be evaluated on criteria including, but not limited to, knowledge and experience in federal and state awarding, including federal verification; Federal Direct Loan experience, including Common Origination & Disbursement; experience with ISIR data load and Banner SIS or similar system; and excellent communication skills.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a well-articulated understanding of the role of community colleges and of their students are required.

Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
