The Director of Development and Community Engagement, WSRE provides leadership, administrative management and supervision of the WSRE Development Department. Responsibilities include station fundraising activities, membership drives, event support, program underwriting, direct mail, telemarketing, web fundraising, grant proposals, membership, mid-level and major gift initiatives, database management, matching fund programs, capital campaigns and other fundraising activities. The Director, Development and Community Engagement will engage prospects and donors to meet WSRE’s short and long-term programming and project fundraising goals and develop long term relationships with donors to negotiate and close major gifts, planned giving arrangements and other types of gifts. This position reports to the General Manager, WSRE.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or other sales/promotion/fundraising area and five years progressively responsible management work experience in development/fundraising/sales or marketing/public relations. Nine years progressively responsible management experience in a comparable development/fundraising sales/support position may substitute for required degree and experience. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer three or more years’ experience in a development management position within a public media organization; demonstrated experience with capital campaigns and major donor relations; demonstrated organizational, supervisory, and communication skills; knowledge of sales techniques, management principles, marketing, priority and goal setting, and budgeting; and experience with fundraising database software.
SALARY RANGE: $48,000.00 - $60,000.00 (Depending on the qualifications, the salary is negotiable.)
