Harford Community College
The College is seeking a dynamic self-starter to strategically cultivate employer relationships to expand the educational, employment and networking opportunities available to connect students and employers. The Apprenticeship Coordinator develops, maintains and strengthens relationships with local companies and organizations for the purpose of increasing employment and experiential education opportunities such as pre-apprenticeships, apprenticeships, internships, cooperative education, job shadowing, and mentoring Harford Community College students.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Working collaboratively with internal and external apprenticeship partners, including Workforce Boards, Economic Development personnel, Career and Technical education personnel, industry partners and the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, the Maryland Apprenticeship and Training Council and the Maryland State Department of Education to develop the classroom model for competency based classroom instruction.
Diverse outreach efforts to include attending meetings both on and off campus, employer visits, targeted marketing, relationship building, establishing advisory boards, cold calling, social media and other outreach initiatives while accurately and thoroughly tracking and assessing the effectiveness of these outreach efforts.
Actively pursuing college relations/recruiter contacts as well as other hiring sources for students and alumni;
Connecting regularly and purposefully with Harford County Chamber of Commerce, Susquehanna Workforce Network, Harford County Public Schools, Maryland Department of Labor Licensing and Regulation, Maryland Apprenticeship and Training Council, Maryland State Department of Education, and local employers;
Serving on campus advisory boards, apprenticeship organizations and professional associations;
Collaborating with on-campus divisions for the purpose of streamlining employer resources throughout Harford Community College;
Strategically marketing programs to both employers and students to improve recruitment outcomes.
Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
This is an exempt, professional staff position.
An associate's degree and one to three years of related experience are required.
Applicants will be evaluated on criteria including, but not limited to:
Experience working with a broad range of constituents including students, employers, alumni, faculty, and staff; and possession of cross-generational outreach approaches with a solid understanding of the unique concerns within employment that exist within targeted populations to include LGBTQ students, students of color, veterans, women, neurodiverse, etc.
Experience developing and registering apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs as well as experiential education opportunities.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain regional partnerships with business and industry, workforce, and economic development agencies and K-12 partners.
Experience marketing and promoting educational programs.
Experience successfully managing multiple projects with attention to detail with exceptional organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills and writing skills.
Experience advising students in noncredit programs.
Familiarity with employment and economic development trends and strategies for employment markets accessible to Harford County, MD, residents.
Experience collecting and managing data.
A valid driver's license with a good driving record is required. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally and up to 10 lbs. regularly.
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
