Position Summary

Primarily responsible for the operation of a child care facility which serves a laboratory school for demonstration of best practices in Early Childhood Education and Child Development Learning Theory as delineated in the NAEYC Center Accreditation standards.

Job Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated experience in managing and operation of a learning lab facility.  Knowledge and experience working in an NAEYC accredited program with a clear understanding or rules and regulations of the program.  Understands, interprets and applies DCCCD’s policies and procedures, State and local regulations when applicable.  Self-motivated with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.  Exhibits professional conduct and skilled contribution in the workplace.  Demonstrates a high degree of proficiency in performing job  assignments and uses time allotted for completion of tasks efficiently.  Advanced interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with tact and confidentiality with individuals at all levels.  Demonstrated experience with academic planning, prioritizing and time management.  Knowledge of safety issues and rules.  Skills in patience, remaining calm under pressure and the ability to be flexible within classroom lab routines.  Ability to make clear, consistent and transparent decisions and acts with integrity in all decision making.  Ability to organize assigned responsibilities to meet the goals of the organization.  Requires a considerable amount of independent judgment, initiative and knowledge of the organization.  Effective presentation and engagement skills.  Advanced knowledge of computer technology to access data, maintain data and generate reports.  Advanced oral and written communication skills to interact with persons from diverse backgrounds including children, parents, students, DCCCD staff and the community. Strong knowledge and experience providing effective customer service.

Physical Requirements

Normal physical job functions performed within a standard office environment.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to individuals with physical challenges to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.  Occasionally required to lift and carry children and/or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Minimum Knowledge and Experience

Bachelor’s degree plus five (5) years of work-related experience in a childcare center that includes administrative and supervisory responsibilities. Official transcripts will be required.  ***Will be subject to a criminal background check.  Some positions may be subject to a fingerprint check.***

Additional/Preferred Skills: This position is the Center Director of the Child Care Center
Excellent conflict management and resolution skills
