Executive Director, Campus Recreation

The Executive Director of Campus Recreation is responsible for the oversight and management of campus recreation facilities, operations, personnel, budget, programs and services, including recreational sports (intramural and club), fitness, wellness, aquatics, and outdoor programs.
The Executive Director is responsible for strategic planning and revenue enhancement, personnel supervision and management, facility operations and maintenance, policy development, program development and review, student development activities, assessment, staff development and project management. The Executive Director collaborates with multiple campus administrators and departments in support of university-wide initiatives and events pertaining to student wellness. The Executive Director will also contribute to the design and delivery of a new 300,000 square foot campus recreation center scheduled to open in 2022.
Education: A Master's degree in higher education administration/management, recreation administration, business administration, sports management, or a related area is required.
Doctorate in Recreational Sports Administration, Public Health, Physical Education, Higher Education Administration, or related field is preferred.
Qualifications: Eight to ten years of progressive management, leadership, and supervisory experience working with professional, technical service, and student staff in a comprehensive recreational field; demonstrated experiences working with a diverse student population and a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity; demonstrated experiences in leading, mentoring and the development of a staff team; knowledge of current trends and issues impacting collegiate recreational programs and services; demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, program evaluation, staff development and fiscal management; foundational knowledge of student development, assessment of student learning outcomes, and campus recreation best practices; demonstrated commitment to student success; experience in risk management practices; experience in the management and coordination of shared-use facilities; excellent interpersonal, communication, and public relations skills.
