FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

CUNY SPS is accepting applications for a Disability Studies Faculty tenure track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The Disability Studies Program at CUNY SPS offers a bachelorís degree, Advanced Certificate and Masters of Arts in Disability Studies, and an MS in Disability Services in Higher Education. All degrees and the Advanced Certificate program are offered fully online.

The general responsibilities of the Disability Studies Assistant/Associate Professor member will include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching courses in the Bachelors, Masterís and Advanced Certificate program;
  • Curriculum development;
  • Advisement in support of students (graduate project and thesis/ePortfolio/internship supervision);
  • Participation in committees and other governance structures;
  • Scholarship and research in area of expertise/discipline; intellectual contributions leading to publications in quality journals;
  • Assistance with the online journal developed by the Disability Studies department; and,
  • Other service, including administrative, supervisory other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
For Assistant or Associate Professor:
Ph.D. or ED.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

The preferred candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and attributes:

  • Earned doctorate in the social sciences, health sciences, special education or a related field;
  • Knowledgeable about and familiar with Disability Studies;
  • Ability to teach on both undergraduate and graduate level in an interdisciplinary program;
  • Experience with online teaching and learning;
  • Experience with curriculum and course development;
  • Experience with student advisement and mentoring; and,
  • Experience with research and publishing.

COMPENSATION
Salary range up to $90,871 depending on rank, qualifications and experience.
