The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK), invites applications for a lecturer to teach undergraduate civil engineering materials, soils, and structures laboratory courses. The position will also manage the soil and materials laboratory facilities. Additional responsibilities will depend on the abilities and interests of the selected candidate, and may include teaching construction courses or supporting funded research in the soils, materials, and structural engineering areas. The position will be filled as soon as possible. Salary is nationally competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position will be a non-tenure track, 12-month renewable appointment with benefits. Applications will be reviewed as they are received and will continue until the position is filled.
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is located in the state-of-the-art John D. Tickle Engineering Building. The full-time faculty of the department consists of 22 tenure-line faculty and three lecturers. It offers baccalaureate, masters, and Ph.D. degrees with concentrations in environmental engineering, water resources, structures, construction, transportation, geotechnical and infrastructure materials, and public works. The successful candidate will be dedicated to enhancing the quality of the departmentís teaching and research missions.
- Teach the general civil engineering, geotechnical, and structures undergraduate laboratories totaling 12 to 16 contact hours per week.
- Manage team of up to four teaching assistants
Manage soil and materials laboratories including equipment maintenance, scheduling, training, research support, and safety oversight.
- Full engagement with the students, faculty, and programs of the department through participation in faculty meetings and committees, program development, student extracurricular activities, etc.
