The Associate of Science Degree Nursing Program is approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). The program provides opportunities to plan for career mobility through courses that articulate with baccalaureate nursing programs in the state of Maryland.
The College is seeking two compassionate, innovative nurse educators who are committed to continuous improvement and supporting students in achieving their goals.
The faculty members are responsible for teaching medical/surgical nursing, and may be required to teach one of the following based on expertise: foundations of nursing, pediatric nursing, leadership in nursing, and/or maternal/infant nursing. In addition, faculty members are expected to stay current in their disciplines and in teaching methodologies; implement changes in instruction based on assessment results; maintain reasonable, distributed office hours; develop and revise curriculum; mentor adjunct faculty; participate in a variety of college committees and task forces; and advise students as appropriate. Faculty members are also expected to demonstrate leadership skills in teaching, discipline activities and college service.
These are full-time,10--month positions, which begin August 15, 2019; one position is tenure-track and one is grant-funded.
A master's degree in nursing and a minimum of two years of nursing clinical experience are required. Candidates must be licensed nurses in Maryland or have the ability to be licensed and have clinical expertise in medical/surgical nursing. Preference will be given to candidates with experience as a nurse educator, including clinical and/or classroom, test item writing, curriculum development, and demonstrated ability to evaluate student performance.
Faculty members are required to have demonstrated competency with current instructional technology and learning management systems while possessing the aptitude and ability to resource new and efficient technology impacting student outcomes as needed.
The ability to interact with students and potential students outside the classroom environment in discipline-related activities, effective communication skills, and a well-articulated understanding of the role of community colleges and their students are required.
Candidates will be asked to validate teaching experience. A teaching demonstration will be part of the interview process.
Salary is commensurate with education, licensure, and experience.
