Position Summary:
University Communications and Marketing. Georgia Southern University seeks nominations and applications for the Vice President for University Communications and Marketing. Reporting to the President, the Vice President plays an integral role in developing and implementing communications and marketing initiatives which communicate the strategic vision of Georgia Southern University, a Carnegie Doctoral/Research institution with three campus locations. The Vice President creates strategies and tactics to build brand awareness, drive enrollment, and increase Georgia Southern's image. The Vice President oversees a staff of 29 full-time employees, numerous employees, and the university-wide marketing approval process. Nominations should be submitted to Amy Ballagh, Search Committee Co-Chair, at vpmarketingsearch@georgiasouthern.edu.

Essential Functions
Creates strategies and tactics to build brand awareness and increase engagement among key stakeholders with marketing, public relations, media relations, special events and web presence.
Serves as the University's spokesperson and Chief Public Information Officer.
Collaborates with other members of the President's leadership team to promote all aspects of the institutional strategic enrollment plan.
Works in conjunction with communications officials at the University System of Georgia to support system-wide efforts.
Develops, implements and maintains effective, integrated marketing and communication plans which include brand identity, communications standards, and market analysis.
Assists Alumni Foundation and University Advancement with marketing and communications for donor development.
Manages both internal and external communication while overseeing a budget totaling approximately $3.0 million.
Oversees Athletics branding for 15 collegiate sports.
Utilizes and grows capacity for market-based research, affinity marketing, and data analytics to conduct campaigns.

Minimum Education Required:
Master's Degree

Could a level of job-related experience higher than the minimum required for the position substitute for the minimum level of education?: No

Minimum Experience Required:
Seven or more years of related experience; four or more years of supervisory experience; successful track record in creation and execution of marketing plans and brand building; experience leading major events and fostering strategic partnerships

Could a level of education higher than the minimum required for the position substitute for the minimum level of job-related experience?: No

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Effective communication (verbal and written), organization and human relations skills; ability to work well in a diverse environment; proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office Applications software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; legally authorized to work in the United States; successful completion of background investigation prior to employment

Preferred Experience:
Experience developing marketing strategies in higher education, demonstrated record of progressive leadership roles in higher education or related non-profit organizations, experience creating and managing key performance indicators for marketing strategies to evaluate effectiveness and return on investment, keen understanding of the issues and challenges facing higher education

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
